About the Artist

Lynda Sappington is a self-taught sculptor who has created many portraits and images of horses and various other animals throughout her 25+ year career. Many of her pieces are trophies around the US and in Canada. She has also done a life-sized bronze of the Friesian stallion, Nanning 374. Her sculpture website is www.TheSculptedHorse.com
The Covid quarantine gave Lynda time to pursue another interest - painting. Lynda has taken many classes, both in person and online, over the years to try to follow her love of color into painting, but her 3-D mind (she's a sculptor for a reason - her mind works differently than most artists' minds) just wouldn't allow her to follow that dream. Then she found an online class called "Let's Dabble Art" taught by internationally collected painter, Jennifer Vranes. Painting with palette knives has always intrigued Lynda, but the way she was taught prior to finding Jen Vranes just didn't make it click in her mind. Jen Vranes method of teaching and always-cheerful and encouraging support broke through Lynda's mental block, resulting in Lynda painting with a joy and freedom never experienced before. With additional instruction from Bruce Marion, Lynda is exploring many subjects and styles as her own style emerges.
Lynda finds it interesting that, although her sculptures are true-to-life portraits, her paintings range from impressionistic to abstract. Sometimes she adds something realistic, such as animals, a barn, a truck, etc., but a lot of the painting will be much looser. That looseness is a lot of fun for Lynda after years of precision in her sculpture.
If you want cheerful piece of art in your home, you can't go wrong with one of Lynda Sappington's paintings. They are created with joy and love and share Lynda's love of color with their happy brightness.
